What is the REAL difference: SculpSure vs. Coolsculpting?
All SculpSure treatments at Vita Cosmetic & Laser Clinic are overseen by a medical doctor. Dr. Diego Delgado is a Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medicine of the University of Toronto and is certified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. We guarantee that your experience at the clinic will be as positive and rewarding as possible with our personalized, patient-focused care.
SculpSure and Coolsculpting are both non-invasive body contouring treatments that zap fat and, as the name would suggest, sculpt your silhouette. In other words, they’re both miracle workers – and everyone knows it. In fact, they’re fast becoming the most popular ways to slim down in an instant.
Like a facelift for the body, both procedures perform basically the same task while achieving the same goals.
Or do they?
To get to the bottom of the mystery and discover which (if either) procedure takes the top spot, we’ll first have to get to know how they work.
How do SculpSure and Coolscuplting Work?
At their most fundamental level, both SculpSure and Coolsculpting use lipolysis technology which dissolves and breaks up fat tissues. After this, they begin to part ways.
Essentially, when it comes to Coolsculpting, a large machine delivers precise and controlled cooling, which targets the fat cells underneath the skin while you sit back and maybe even read a magazine or finish a crossword. Getting to work among your fat cells, the below-freezing temperatures cause crystallization which effectively “kills off” the cells. These cells are then kindly digested by your body, leaving you looking and feeling slimmer.
Instead of freezing the fat cells, SculpSure harnesses the power of the opposite end of the temperature scale and essentially melts the fat cells away. Leveraging the power of lasers, a specific wavelength of energy is chosen that is designed to specifically target adipose tissue or fat.
SculpSure is the gold standard for body contouring and fat removal.
Both cosmetic procedures are used to target fat on your belly, love handles, thighs, bottom, banana roll under your bottom, under the arms, under your chin, and just about any other area, you can imagine.
So, now that we’ve covered the basics of their methods, it’s time to figure out …
What is the Difference Between Coolsculpting and SculpSure?
What makes SculpSure better than CoolSculpting?
Put simply: Temperature.
Coolsculpting and SculpSure use different types of lipolysis technologies. Fat cell freezing is favored when it comes to cool sculpting.
SculpSure, on the other hand, uses laser heat technology to melt away fat cells which the body will then eliminate naturally.
SculpSure laser technology has an added benefit – it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, creating a smoother, more natural skin appearance.
Because Coolsculpting relies on cold to freeze fat cells, it’s applicators can’t work past the target area.
With SculpSure, which uses heat instead, the heat will extend beyond the target area creating a smoother transition between different areas.
Winner: SculpSure
So, while that’s the most obvious different, here’s a few differences that might not be so obvious:
Comfort
As you may have guessed, Coolsculpting gets a little chilly. This freezing effect is especially noticeable during the first 5 to 10 minutes of a session, as intense cold sets in before the area becomes numb. Also, since most Coolsculpting applicators use a vacuum to gently draw fatty tissue closer, light tugging, pulling, and mild pinching can be a bothersome side effect.
Compared to the above, SculpSure seems like a walk in the park! Yes, the applicators use heat to target the fat cells, but your skin and you stay comfortable thanks to incorporated cooling plates that help to disperse the heat.
Winner: SculpSure
Treatment Duration
Achieving your dream body shouldn’t come at the cost of your other dreams. Luckily, both Coolsculpting and SculpSure sessions are relatively short, rarely stretching to over an hour and a half.
However, standing at an average of 25 minutes per session, SculpSure is by far the speedier yet still just as effective fat-busting procedure.
Winner: SculpSure
Treatment Scope
CoolSculpting treats one body area at a time.
SculpSure machines have four applicators that simultaneously target four different areas of your body.
Winner: SculpSure
Cost
The average Coolsculpting session is slightly less pricy than that of a SculpSure session.
With that said, with SculpSure, a single session is more than enough to bring about a significant change in your appearance.
On the other hand, you’ll need to undergo more Coolsculpting sessions to achieve the same noticeable results. That makes SculpSure both cost and time efficient.
Winner: SculpSure
And there you have it!
So, in the competition of which fat-eliminating process is the best, we can confidently single out SculpSure as the winner.
However, at the end of the day, you should always choose your cosmetic procedures based on which works best for your specific needs and desires.

“I absolutely recommend this clinic. I got fillers in my face. The doctor did the assessment and provided the treatment. Very meticulous. Different from other spas I visited before. Very happy with the results. Same doctor did botox to my friend. Not too much, not too little. The right number of units of Botox. Great coffee! And the place is beautiful!”
